Barriers of Entry

Barriers for IPP hydro developers relate to the increasing lack of project sites that are close to the transmission system, the inability to assess and evaluate projects in early stage development, and the technical expertise and development knowledge to carry a project to operation. Thus, while many IPP hydro developers may be able to locate and apply for initial development permits, they do not have the necessary resources to carry a project (or multiple projects) in the process.
