Demand for Power

According to BC Hydro, electricity demand in the Province of British Columbia will grow between 25 and 45 percent over the next 20 years.

Cureently BC Hydro is a net importer of electricity (18%) in the Province of B.C. and has issued a mandate to be energy self sufficient with insurance as outlined in the 2007 Energy Plan by 2016. This is very important, since it significantly increases the amount of power that BC Hydro will need in the next Call for Tender (CFT). In the previous CFT (28%) is coal that will likely need to be re-evaluated and replaced with green energy in the upcoming Clean Call (previously known as the 2007 CFT).
